Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Machine Operator II (Nailed Wood) in Hartselle, AL to run machines from raw lumber to finished components for wood reels used in packaging. The role emphasizes precision, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards in a non-temperature-controlled open-warehouse setting.

You will operate sawn wood equipment, read manufacturing instructions, and collaborate with teammates to ensure on-time, quality output while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year of machine operating experience in an industrial environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand 8+ hours.
• Knowledge of 5S is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team to handle and process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments, monitor and report the quality of manufactured products.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
• Support Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.
• Help other departments as needed.
