Job summary

Sonoco Products Co. in Hartselle, AL, is hiring a Machine Operator II for the Lumber line on the first shift (6a-2p). The role involves running machines, cutting and assembling lumber to produce wood reels used for packaging wire and cable.

Requirements include at least 1 year of machine operating experience, strong tool knowledge, and excellent communication. Physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs and standing 8 hours is needed. We provide PPE and safety gear.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of machine operating experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong hand-tool knowledge and safe use to operate, adjust, and maintain production equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to process lumber from raw material to finished product.
• Make incremental process adjustments; monitor and report product quality.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Follow supervisor/manager directions and Sonoco quality and safety policies.
• Assist other departments as needed.
