Job summary

J. Alexander's Restaurant is seeking a Grill Cook to maintain grill temperatures and support a wood-fired kitchen in a contemporary American dining setting. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation standards in an open kitchen.

Shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays with opportunities for advancement. This position offers part-time or full-time hours and a strong benefits-oriented workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age to operate kitchen equipment.
• 1 yr. previous kitchen / culinary / chef experience on a wood-burning grill is preferred, but not required.
• Experience and knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to knives, slicer, mixer, stoves, and ovens required.
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the temperature of the grill throughout the shift.
• Open-kitchen layout with visibility from the dining room, coordinating with other staff.
• Strong communication and teamwork with assembly, expo, and management.
• Manage ticket orders for proteins and ensure proper food temperatures per company standards.
• Follow sanitation protocols and keep a clean station and workspace.
• Assist with opening duties and closing cleaning duties.
