Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation seeks a Journeyman Baker to produce daily menu items for taverns and outlets within our historic Williamsburg campus.

The role requires baking with wood-fired ovens, precise scaling, and maintaining a clean workstation. A culinary degree in baking and pastry or equivalent is preferred, with 21+ years of age and a clean driving record. This is an overtime-eligible, non-exempt position supporting historic culinary experiences.

Qualifications

• Culinary program degree in baking and pastry or industry equivalent in a resort or similar setting.
• Preferred: degree plus 3–5 years of similar experience.

Responsibilities

• Daily production of menu items for taverns and grab and go locations.
• Knowledge of special dietary requirements.
• Knowledge and proficient ability of basic mixing techniques including cake batters, quick breads, yeasts, and cookies.
• Knowledge and proficiency to produce basic sauces, creams, and aerated products.
• Finishing daily production.
• Production is complete and timely according to business needs.
• Maintains a clean, organized and sanitary workstation and surrounding environment.
• Accurate scaling and measuring according to bakers’ math.
• Monitors and inspects quality of ingredients, finished products and their display in outlets.
