Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is seeking a Journeyman Baker to produce items for taverns and grab-and-go locations in Williamsburg, VA. The role requires skilled baking, accurate bakers’ math, and adherence to quality standards.

The position calls for a culinary degree in baking and pastry or equivalent, plus 3–5 years of related experience. Experience with wood-fired ovens and training teammates is preferred. A Virginia driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Culinary program degree in baking and pastry or equivalent.
• Preferred: degree and 3-5 years of similar experience.
• Journeyman Baker must scale formulas using bakers’ math.
• Experience baking in wood-fired ovens.
• Ability to train associates to bake standard items using a wood fired oven.
• Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license and meet MVR criteria.

Responsibilities

• Daily production of menu items for taverns and grab-and-go locations.
• Knowledge of special dietary requirements.
• Knowledge and proficiency to produce basic sauces, creams and aerated products.
• Finishing daily production.
• Production is complete and timely according to business needs.
• Maintains a clean, organized and sanitary workstation and surrounding environment.
• Accurate scaling and measuring according to bakers’ math.
• Monitors and inspects quality of ingredients, finished products and their display in outlets.
