Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an Assistant Coach for Women’s Tennis to support recruiting, coaching, and mentoring within the athletics department. The role includes administrative assistance for the women’s tennis program and collaboration with the Head Coach.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years in women’s tennis coaching or playing, with weekend/night availability and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution.
• Two to four years of women’s tennis intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience required.
• Ability to string tennis racquets.
• Ability to work weekends and nights.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of women’s tennis methods and techniques of coaching.
• Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.
• Ability to foster and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Devotes full-time attention and energies to duties as Assistant Coach of the women’s tennis team.
• Complies with NCAA rules, conference policies, and applicable disciplinary actions.
• Assist Head Coach to recruit and enroll student athletes with strong academics and community involvement.
• Foster academic excellence and positive team culture; support retention.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program.
• Assist with team performance goals and training under supervision of Head Coach.
• Participate in evaluations and administrative duties for the program.
