Job summary

The University of Virginia is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Women’s Rowing program and assist the coaching staff with daily operations and athlete development. The role emphasizes coaching during on-water practices, video analysis, and logistics support within a Division I program.

Ideal candidates will have collegiate level coaching experience, strong rowing knowledge, and a commitment to safety and excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Experience coaching rowing at collegiate or professional level preferred.
Strong ability to observe, analyze, and communicate rowing technique.

Responsibilities

Operate a coaching launch during on-the-water practices.
Observe student-athletes and crews and provide timely technical feedback.
Identify and communicate technical corrections related to rowing mechanics, boat movement, rhythm, timing, and crew synchronization.
Promote a positive, demanding, and supportive training environment.
Support student-athlete safety during practices and other rowing activities.
Assist with preparation for daily practices and training sessions.
Support equipment preparation, organization, and logistics.
Assist with rowing equipment and coaching launch operations as assigned.
Organize and maintain practice video and other performance materials.
Assist with data entry, training records, and program documentation.
Assist the full-time coaching staff with other program-related duties as needed.
