Job summary

Tracksmith in Boston, MA is seeking an Assistant Apparel Designer - Women's to support the design and creation of performance apparel for runners. Reporting to the Lead Designer, this role focuses on women's apparel while contributing to seasonal initiatives.

It is a hands-on design role combining creativity with construction knowledge. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of apparel design experience, a degree in Apparel/Fashion Design, and a strong portfolio.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of apparel design experience in performance running or activewear.
• Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or equivalent.
• Portfolio demonstrating design creativity and technical execution.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop with strong hand-sketching.
• Baseline knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, and hands-on sewing.
• Experience with PLM systems and 3D design tools is a plus.
• Collaborative, detail-oriented and solution-driven.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Designer in creation of Women's Apparel from concept to final product.
• Design assigned styles under the Lead Designer.
• Translate seasonal direction and briefs into apparel concepts.
• Create original sketches and detailed technical drawings communicating construction intent.
• Build and maintain tech packs and CADs.
• Participate in fittings and resolve fit and construction issues with Technical Design.
• Develop understanding of performance needs for women runners.
• Balance performance with modern silhouette, proportion and style.
• Evolve Tracksmith's Women's assortment while aligning with design language.
• Identify fabrics, trims and construction techniques with Product Development and Technical Design.
• Demonstrate knowledge of technical knits, wovens, stretch materials and performance constructions.
• Explore new materials and construction techniques to improve performance.
