Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Women’s Health department under physician supervision.

You will assist with examinations, take vital signs, prepare treatment rooms, and perform basic clerical tasks to keep the clinic organized. Qualified candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalent (or 1 year of relevant experience) and a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of hire; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts; prepare treatment rooms for examination.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management, ordering and stocking supplies; maintain a clean, orderly environment.
