Job summary

Mayo Clinic’s Wound Ostomy Nurse (WON) provides expert, integrated, cost-effective patient care for high-risk patients with complex issues. The WON coordinates clinical care across settings, collaborating with other health professionals, and supports leadership roles and quality improvement efforts.

Requirements include RN licensure, BSN, and strong communication; CWOCN certification is preferred. Flexible hours and potential sponsorship considerations apply.

Qualifications

• BSN or equivalent nursing degree.
• CWOCN certification preferred.
• 1 year RN experience in a relevant care setting or 1 year Mayo Clinic RN/LPN within last 5 years preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for high-risk patients across care settings under the WON scope.
• Demonstrate leadership through preceptor roles and committees.
• Educate patients, families, and staff about wound, ostomy, and continence care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
