Job summary

University of Nebraska System is seeking a network technician to oversee day-to-day support, operation and maintenance of the NU wireless network. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, site surveys, and assisting with installation and design of building layouts and implementation plans.

The role emphasizes developing and maintaining wireless networking documentation and procedures, with potential involvement in campus-wide projects and collaboration across ITS teams.

Qualifications

• Two years post-secondary coursework.
• 2 years in a multi-site production networking environment.
• Proven computer diagnostic skills.
• Experience with setup, configuration, and operation of Windows & MAC operating systems.
• General knowledge of Ethernet networking concepts.
• General knowledge of 802.11 wireless technologies (802.11N, 802.11ac, 802.1ax, Bluetooth).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support, operation and maintenance of the NU wireless network including troubleshooting problems.
• Assist with installation of components, design of building layouts, implementation plans and site surveys.
• Develop and maintain wireless networking documentation and procedures.
• Provide assistance and support with projects related to the campus network.
