Job summary

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust seeks a Wire Manager to oversee the wire room’s daily operations, ensuring smooth workflows and resource utilization. The role provides coaching, guidance and training to staff while maintaining compliance with regulations.

The position reports to the Assistant Director of Deposit Operations with responsibilities spanning governance, reporting, and collaboration across departments. Strong leadership and banking operations experience are required.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of wire transfer experience required.
• Two to three years banking industry or operations experience.
• Minimum of three years management experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations and management of the Wire Department functions by determining workflow and staffing needs.
• Provides coaching and mentoring to motivate and develop staff and conducts staff meetings.
• Builds relationships with staff and other departments to support a collaborative environment.
• Acts as a resource for customers, the branch, and operations staff related to wire transfers.
• Monitors activities and audits internal controls for quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance.
• Develops and maintains SOPs and evaluates processes to create efficiencies and minimize risk.
• Prepares management reporting using core system applications.
• Works with vendors to enhance service offerings and address system issues.
• Participates in system releases/enhancements and ensures system integrity.
