Job summary

Superior Essex Communications is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee shift activities in the wire and cable manufacturing area. You will supervise staff, plan production operations, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and performance appraisals, as well as coordinating schedules and maintaining production data for monthly inventory reports. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises employees in the assigned production area.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable laws; interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Supervises and coordinates all shift activities of assigned production area(s) engaged in manufacturing wire and cable products.
• Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates; assists in revisions.
• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products in the assigned area.
• Makes personnel assignments, maintains housekeeping and safety standards, interprets policies and procedures, and conducts employee performance appraisals.
• Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.
• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure operational performance and optimum utilization; provides instructions on proper operations.
• Assists engineering with new processes and designs.
• Enforces rules, resolves worker complaints and forwards unresolved issues to production management.
• Completes and forwards production data and assists with monthly inventory.
• Maintains and forwards relative production data and assists with monthly inventory.
