State of Indiana, through INDOT, is seeking Seasonal Winter Maintenance Workers for the LaPorte Sub District. The role involves operating snow plows and maintenance equipment, performing winter operations and traffic sign/pavement marking work to keep roadways safe for Hoosiers.

Applicants must hold a valid Class A or B CDL, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to pass a drug test. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and the position pays $21.00 per hour with potential sign-on

Qualifications

• CDL (Class A or B) required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and follow directions.
• Must be able to work non-traditional hours and withstand inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Assist with emergency responses: clean-up, traffic control, lane closures, signs, barricades.
• Perform equipment maintenance and conduct pre-trip inspections.
• Follow INDOT safety policies and procedures and document work in WMS.
