Job summary

State of Indiana, Paoli Sub District, is seeking a Winter Seasonal Maintenance Worker to support INDOT by performing snow and ice removal and general highway maintenance in the Paoli area. A CDL is required, and candidates must pass a drug test, possess a valid CDL, and meet physical requirements.

The role is seasonal, with potential sign-on and retention bonuses for start dates in November and December. Employees work in outdoor winter conditions, operate snow plows and related equipment, and

Qualifications

• High school graduate or HSE preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to move 50 pounds.
• Must have the ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Must have the ability to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment, etc.).
• Must have the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must have the ability to work unpredictable and non-traditional hours as necessary to perform winter operations activities.
• Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain and repair highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operations: snow and ice removal.
• Emergency response: cleanup, traffic control, lane closures, signs, barricades.
• Perform equipment maintenance: minor repairs, maintenance, refueling, pre-trip inspections.
• Follow INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Document work in the Work Management System (WMS).
