Job summary

City of Westfield, Indiana is seeking a seasonal Public Works Laborer for a roughly 12-week winter stint (Nov–Jan). The job involves operating trucks/backhoe, mowing, trash pickup, repairs, and assisting with traffic control at construction sites.

Work is performed under supervision, with standard hours 7:30 am–4:30 pm, plus on-call duties for after-hours emergencies. Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Indiana CDL (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• Valid commercial driver’s license in Indiana (ability to obtain).
• Able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and backhoe as assigned.
• Perform maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Mow grass, pick up trash and debris, trim trees.
• Paint street lines and curbs.
• Assist with traffic control at construction sites.
• Assist with patching, sealing cracks and potholes as needed.
