Job summary

Telluride Adaptive Sports Program (TASP) is seeking a Winter Program Manager to lead the adaptive winter programs, oversee instructor training, staffing, and on-snow operations under the Ski and Ride Director.

The role blends administrative leadership with on-snow duties to ensure safe, high-quality experiences for participants, volunteers, and partner organizations during the winter season (Nov 2, 2026 – Apr 10, 2027).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in recreation, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of adaptive ski or snowboard instruction experience.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory or leadership experience in adaptive recreation, ski school operations, or a related field.
  • PSIA-AASI Adaptive Level 2 or Alpine Level 2 certification with commitment to continued adaptive certification.
  • Experience managing specialty camps or military/veteran programs.
  • Familiarity with adaptive risk management practices and incident response.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to employment).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational lead when the Ski and Ride Director is unavailable.
  • Assist with the daily functions of TASP's adaptive ski and ride programs.
  • Monitor on-snow operations to ensure participant safety and high-quality instruction.
  • Support exceptional customer service and positive participant experiences.
  • Teach adaptive ski or snowboard lessons as needed to support program operations.
  • Assist with policy implementation, incident response, and operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate TASP's annual winter instructor training program.
  • Develop training schedules and curriculum in collaboration with the Ski and Ride Director.
  • Coordinate lift evacuation training, mountain operations orientation, and other required training with Telluride Ski Resort departments.
  • Assist Ski and Ride Director with instructor evaluations.
  • Maintain training records and certification documentation.
  • Identify ongoing professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate winter specialty programs including Veterans Camps, Women's Week and other adaptive camps.
  • Manage participant logistics, schedules, equipment, and staffing for specialty programs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on program budgets and contracted programs.
  • Coordinate volunteer needs with the Volunteer Coordinator and staff assignments with the Ski and Ride Director.
  • Conduct post-program evaluations and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with supervising seasonal instructors and volunteers.
  • Help facilitate staff meetings, daily briefings, and operational communication.
  • Support instructor scheduling and staffing adjustments.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to instructional staff.
  • Assist with maintaining adaptive ski and ride equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment inspections, repairs, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Maintain organized equipment storage and inventory systems.
  • Recommend equipment purchases and replacement needs.
  • Ensure compliance with TASP policies, Guidelines & Good Practices (GGP), and risk management procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout all winter programs.
  • Assist with incident response, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Monitor participant medical needs and emergency preparedness.
  • Support ongoing safety training initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing reports for board meetings, grant reporting, and annual program summaries.
  • Support scheduling, program tracking, and operational planning.
  • Communicate operational updates and recommendations to the Ski and Ride Director.

Compensation: DOE $27-$32 per hour

Position Summary

The Winter Program Manager supports the implementation and daily functions of TASP's adaptive winter sports programs. Working under the supervision of the Ski and Ride Director, this leadership position assists with instructor training, specialty camps and programs, staff supervision, participant services, equipment management, and daily on-snow operations.

The Winter Program Manager serves as a key operational leader, helping ensure that winter programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and with exceptional participant experiences. This position combines administrative leadership with extensive on-snow responsibilities and provides direct support to instructors, volunteers, participants, and partner organizations throughout the winter season.

Season: November 2, 2026 – April 10, 2027

Schedule: Full-Time, Seasonal (35+ hours per week)

Key Responsibilities
Program Operations

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Requires skiing or snowboarding in varying mountain and weather conditions. (Emphasis on skiing)
  • Regular lifting and movement of adaptive equipment.
  • Requires flexibility, including weekends, holidays, early mornings and some evenings throughout the winter season.
  • Physical ability to assist participants with transfers, adaptive equipment, and on-snow instruction.
