Qualifications

SUMMARY

The Winter Program Manager is a key member of the program leadership team, responsible for ensuring all aspects of their seasonal program operations align with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. The Program Manager is tasked with cultivating a high-performing team of coordinators, specialists, and instructors, managing program calendars within the winter season, and ensuring that all program operations prioritize safety, accessibility, and participant-centered experiences. WAS winter programs include primarily alpine skiing and snowboarding; other secondary programs include, but are not limited to, snowshoeing, yoga, indoor cycling, and others. The primary manager of the Program Manager is the Program Director.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Team and People Development
  • Manage hiring, training, scheduling, and mentorship of program coordinators, specialists, and instructors for the winter season.
  • Develop and manage ongoing training curriculum for winter instructors and program staff.
  • Oversee execution of volunteer program with Program Coordinators, including onboarding, training, and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with the program reservations team to ensure high-quality program delivery and communication for participants and other stakeholders.
  • With the Program Director and Summer Program Manager, work as part of the program senior staff team to build and implement overall program vision and strategy for cohesion of WAS programs across seasons.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment through mentoring, regular performance feedback, and annual reviews.
  • Provide strong, inclusive leadership as a member of WAS’s program leadership team.
Program Operations
  • Oversee all aspects of winter program planning and operations, including seasonal program schedule for individual lessons, group and community partner programs, program locations and permitting, and rental program offerings.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with resort partners, community partners, and key program participants.
  • Ensure safety standards are met within program delivery.
  • Supervise on-site and organizational procedures to ensure high-quality experiences for participants.
  • Oversee systems for ensuring the accuracy participant and volunteer attendance data.
  • Oversee seasonal equipment needs, including purchasing and inventory planning, ensuring all devices are in safe and working condition, and fit the needs of program demand.
  • With the Program Director, oversee seasonal program budget planning and implementation, including labor, equipment, program operations, professional development, and other program revenue and expenses.
  • With the Program Director, execute strategies for quality improvement in program delivery.
  • Collaborate as needed with other members of the WAS admin and development teams to assist in accurate representation of WAS programs, and to support a cohesive fundraising strategy.
  • Teaches lessons as needed.
  • Additional work as needed, including, but not limited to: covering tasks for other program team positions, supporting fundraising, program outreach, and other events as required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • Minimum 3-4 years of job-related experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of management experience supervising instructors or staff.
  • Current Utah driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience teaching and training instructors in adaptive alpine skiing and/or snowboarding.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Advanced to expert personal ski or snowboard skills preferred.
  • Excellent organization with the demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • A passion for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Strong commitment to fostering a people-centered culture and workplace.
  • PSIA-AASI certification(s) preferred.
  • Comfortable driving with a 16 ft. trailer or willing to learn on hire.
  • Must be competent in Word, Excel, Google Drive. Experience with Salesforce preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements, and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to perform outdoor physical work for long periods of time.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
