Job summary

Telluride Adaptive Sports Program seeks a Winter Snowsports Coordinator to lead adaptive ski and snowboard instruction, coordinate daily operations, and support participant services for the winter season in Telluride, CO. The position runs full-time, seasonal (35+ hours per week) from November 18, 2026 to April 4, 2027, with opportunities to mentor instructors and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Full-time seasonal work for the winter season (Nov 16 through early April 4).
  • PSIA/AASI Level I certification required or obtainable during the first season.
  • Minimum of one full winter season teaching adaptive snowsports.
  • Previous experience with Telluride Adaptive Sports Program or another adaptive recreation organization preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.

Winter Snowsports Coordinator

Telluride Adaptive Sports Program (TASP)

Position Summary

The Winter Snowsports Coordinator supports TASP's adaptive winter programs by coordinating specialty programs, providing administrative support, and teaching adaptive ski and snowboard lessons. Working under the supervision of the Ski and Ride Director, this full-time seasonal position leads coordination of Special Olympics Team San Juan and co-facilitates the Enabling All educational program while supporting participant services, scheduling, communications, and daily program functions. The Coordinator also provides leadership to seasonal instructors and volunteers to help ensure a safe, organized, and inclusive participant experience.

Season: November 18, 2026 – April 4, 2027

Schedule: Full-Time, Seasonal (35+ hours per week)

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Operations & Participant Services
    • Coordinate daily adaptive snowsports program functions
    • Arrange ski and snowboard rentals and ensure all equipment needs are met.
    • Coordinate lift ticket distribution and resolve ticketing issues.
    • Ensure participant liability waivers and required documentation are completed.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, parents, guardians, and caregivers prior to and throughout their visit
    • Provide outstanding customer service before, during, and after lessons.
    • Support administrative staff with scheduling, communications, and day-to-day operational tasks as assigned.
  • Specialty Programs
    • Coordinate the Special Olympics Team San Juan winter program under the direction of the Ski and Ride Director.
    • Coordinate practices, competitions, and athlete communications.
    • Serve as Co-Coordinator and presenter for TASP's Enabling All educational outreach program alongside the Community Education Specialist for local 5th and 6th grade students in the school systems.
  • Administrative Support
    • Answer participant and family inquiries by phone and email.
    • Assist with registration and participant communications.
    • Support scheduling and daily logistics.
    • Complete assigned administrative projects.
    • Help ensure efficient daily program operations from opening through closing of the day.
  • Adaptive Instruction
    • Teach adaptive ski and snowboard lessons approximately 2–3 days per week, as assigned.
    • Deliver safe, individualized, participant-centered adaptive instruction.
    • Assist with participant assessments and lesson planning.
  • Staff & Volunteer Leadership
    • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and supervision to seasonal instructors and volunteers as directed.
    • Provide operational support during busy program days.
    • Help maintain a positive, collaborative team culture.
Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Outdoor Recreation, Hospitality, Resort Management, Nonprofit Management, Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Commitment to work a full time schedule the full winter season (November 16 through early April 4).
  • Current PSIA/AASI Level I certification (or willingness to obtain certification during the first season).
  • Minimum of one full winter season teaching adaptive snowsports.
  • Previous experience with Telluride Adaptive Sports Program or another adaptive recreation organization strongly preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor recreation environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an advanced level. (emphasis placed on skiing)
  • Ability to safely assist participants with adaptive equipment.
  • Lift, carry, and transport adaptive sports equipment.
  • Work outdoors in varying winter weather conditions.
  • Ability to assist participants with transfers and mobility as needed.
