Challenge Aspen is seeking an Apprentice Pro for the 2026/27 season in Snowmass Village. The role focuses on assisting adaptive snow sports instructors, supporting individual lessons, and helping run group programs on snow and in logistics.

Training includes disability awareness and adaptive techniques, with hands-on opportunities to build leadership and program development skills. Opportunity includes subsidized housing, paid training, and a full-season ski pass across Aspen Snowmass.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 or older by November 18, 2026.
  • Commit to the full ski season from November 18, 2026 to April 16, 2027.
  • Ability to work long hours in cold, extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in training, education and certification programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with high customer service standards.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist professional adaptive instructors on Challenge Aspen lessons.
  • Be on-snow buddy/guide for higher level participants.
  • Help facilitate multi-day adaptive recreation experiences.
  • Provide logistical and facilitation support for group programs.
  • Develop understanding of disability communities and serve as ambassador.
  • Assist with administrative, fundraising and marketing projects as needed.
  • Facilitate additional activities for participants and families as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Title: Apprentice Pro Seasonal position: November 18, 2026 - April 16, 2027

Pay: $115/full day, $57.50/half day + subsidized housing opportunities

Job purpose: The Apprentice Pro (AP) will assist in the preparation and facilitation of adaptive snow sports programs for individuals with disabilities. APs will spend most of their time on snow, supporting individual lessons and group programs, while also contributing to program logistics, support, and administrative tasks. This position is ideal for someone interested in gaining experience in the adaptive snow sports and inclusive recreation tourism industries. The Apprentice Pro will receive training both on-snow and indoors, covering topics such as disability awareness, adaptive skiing and snowboarding techniques, and the use of specialized equipment. The role also offers hands‑on opportunities to develop skills in group leadership, logistical coordination, and adaptive program development.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Be a positive role model and ambassador of Challenge Aspen.

  • Facilitate additional activities for Challenge Aspen participants and families as requested.

  • Intermediate skiing ability required; advanced/expert preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong desire to learn the techniques and skills required to teach adaptive skiing, and ability to commit to training, education, and certification programs.
  • Safety and risk management mindset and willingness to adhere to all Challenge Aspen safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and reliable always with a high degree of customer service.
  • Have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to an ever‑changing work environment.
