The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Lakewood, WA is seeking a Winter Day Camp Counselor for a Seasonal role at the Lakewood Family YMCA. You will supervise a small group of campers and lead activities such as swimming, games, sports, and arts/crafts while keeping children safe.

This position offers up to 40 hours per week with weekends off. Completion of background checks and online training is required, and the organization values diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
• Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations
• Knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Responsabilités

• Plan, lead, and assist group activities, transitions, time fillers, and songs.
• Complete group head counts.
• Provide parent communication through parent communication cards.
• Complete accident and incident reports when necessary.
• Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.
• 40 hours/week with Saturday and Sunday’s off
• Ability to apply as an internal candidate to a year-round, Full or Part-Time position
