Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties' Camp Seymour in Gig Harbor, WA seeks an Overnight Camp Counselor for a seasonal, residential role from June 13, 2027 to August 20, 2027. You will live in a cabin with a co-leader, guiding 10-12 campers aged 7-13 and leading 1-2 skills classes.

Responsibilities include creating a positive, safe camp environment, leading activities, ensuring camper welfare, resolving conflicts, and communicating with leadership staff. Room and board are provided.

Qualifications

• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Related experience with children preferred.
• Experience in leadership with campers is a plus.
• Ability to handle high-activity environments and problem-solve.
• Willingness to complete required training and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive, inclusive environment for campers.
• Organize and lead activities both inside and outside the cabin.
• Ensure camper safety and whereabouts at all times.
• Resolve conflicts using camp values and procedures.
• Maintain open communication with co-leaders and leadership staff.
• Facilitate cabin overnights and supervise camper needs.
