The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Camp Unit Leader to live and work at Camp Seymour in Gig Harbor, WA, this summer. You will supervise 8-12 cabin staff and help organize the day camp program, ensuring safety, inclusivity, and engaging activities.

This is a residential position with room and board. The role requires a strong commitment to YMCA values and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced camp setting.

Qualifications

• Commitment to valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Two summers of camp staff experience or equivalent.
• Experience in cabin leadership, child development, behavior management, and peer leadership.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Current First Aid and CPR; Lifeguard certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Promote a positive, inclusive camp environment aligned with YMCA values.
• Connect with campers to make them feel welcome and included.
• Lead activities, supervise transitions, and be visible throughout the day.
• Evaluate situations and resolve conflicts per camp policies.
• Identify campers needing extra help and support staff performance.
