Job summary

H2ajobs in South Dakota is seeking a farmhand to assist with calving, calf care, and winter livestock tasks on a rural operation. You will work closely with cattle, monitor cows and newborns, and support daily and nightly calving checks.

The role includes feeding, bedding, basic herd management, and maintaining pens and equipment. Employer-provided housing, meals, and transportation support are offered.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience in farm work or calving assistance
• Valid driver’s license within 30 days and clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Prepare calving facility and assist during delivery
• Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers
• Monitor cattle and bred heifers for labor; perform day and night checks
• Castrate, brand, clip or tag newborn calves if trained
• Feed cattle during winter, add dry bedding, and manage snow removal and fencing maintenance
