Job summary

Pullman Market in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Lead Wine Captain to oversee the restaurant's wine program, educate staff, and lead by example in hospitality and service during every shift.

This position blends Captain and Sommelier duties, provides wine training, manages wine inventory using Margin Edge and BinWise, and ensures guests have an exceptional wine experience consistent with the brand.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a wine program and educating staff.
• Strong hospitality, service, and guest experience focus.
• Ability to lead and mentor Front of House teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between management, sommelier, and FOH for the wine program.
• Maintain expert knowledge of the by-the-glass wine program and featured wines.
• Assist with training all new FOH staff on the wine program.
• Provide ongoing wine education for the service team with approved curricula.
• Ensure training reinforces hospitality standards and product knowledge.
• Assist with bi-weekly wine inventories using Margin Edge.
• Receive, unpack, store, and stock wine deliveries.
• Lead wine service during service floats and support bottle sales.
• Maintain leadership presence on the floor and act as an ambassador of the restaurant.
• Lead by example in hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
