Job summary

The Wine Bar Server at Biltmore in Asheville coordinates table service for guests and communicates with front and back-of-house teams to deliver world-class hospitality. You will showcase knowledge of Biltmore Wines and wine making while guiding guests through tastings and selections.

Position is on-call/reserve with 2–3 shifts per week, requires 18+ years old and at least 6 months of wine experience in fine dining. Weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred, but not required.
• 6+ months of wine experience in fine dining/upscale setting.
• Commitment to delivering world-class guest service and exceeding expectations.
• Ability to learn proper wine service quickly.
• Working knowledge of Biltmore Wines, wine making, Biltmore & Vanderbilt history, and Asheville area.
• Learn and communicate information about Biltmore Winery & Retail products and services.
• Excellent guest relations and communications skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to handle guest situations.
• Attention to detail and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• 18+ years of age; proactive with good judgment and initiative.
• Advanced level of wine knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate guests’ needs and maintain positive guest relations.
• Deliver and serve correct wine and food items promptly.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Maintain wine education and actively up-sell with guests.
• Create a unique tasting experience by engaging guests in the wine list.
• Promote Vanderbilt Wine Club and convey information to guests.
• Coordinate assembly of guest orders of merchandise and wine.
• Open and close operations, maintain bar/kitchen, and restock daily.
• Maintain stocking and inventory of essential service items.
• Accurately track wine inventory daily; multitask in a high-volume setting.
