Waters Edge Winery & Bistro in Midlothian is seeking an experienced and organized Wine Ambassador to oversee all bar operations and ensure an exceptional beverage experience for our guests. This role is responsible for managing daily bar service, providing tastings and maintaining high quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, and beverage service, along with leadership experience in a hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Wine Ambassador or lead bartender.
• Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, beer, and beverages.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily bar operations and ensure smooth, efficient service.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of wine, cocktails, beer, and beverage offerings.
• Assist guests with beverage recommendations, including wine pairings.
• Monitor inventory levels and place beverage orders as needed.
• Ensure proper storage and rotation of wine, beer, and spirits.
• Create and update cocktail menus and seasonal beverage offerings.
• Maintain consistency in drink quality and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the bar area.
• Collaborate with management on promotions, events, and wine tastings.
• Track and manage bar costs, waste, and inventory accuracy.
• Assist with scheduling and staff coverage as needed.
• Provide excellent guest service and resolve concerns professionally.

The Wine Ambassador will play an important role in creating a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring efficiency, consistency, and outstanding guest service.

• Previous experience as a Wine Ambassador, Lead Bartender, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, beer, and beverage service
• Leadership and team management experience
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Professional appearance and positive attitude
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Experience with POS systems and inventory tracking preferred

Preferred Skills

• Wine knowledge or certification (WSET, Sommelier training, or similar) a plus
• Experience creating cocktail menus or beverage programs
• Strong understanding of inventory management and ordering
• Experience in winery, upscale casual, or hospitality environment
• Ability to train and motivate a team
