Job summary

DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking an Associate Underwriter for the Windstorm Risk division in Chicago. You will support underwriting workflows, assist with account quoting and binding, and help deliver quality service throughout the underwriting life cycle.

You will learn to evaluate windstorm exposures, gather data, and work with Underwriters to quote and bind policies. This hybrid role offers growth in a specialized international underwriting group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in risk management, finance, business or related field.
• 0–1 year underwriting or insurance experience.
• Foundational knowledge of insurance principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Process submissions by providing account triage for Underwriters.
• Provide backup support for Underwriters when traveling in the market.
• Gather and compile information required to quote and/or bind an account.
• Generate, edit, and send out correspondences on behalf of the Underwriters (e.g., declination letters, quote follow ups).
• Demonstrate basic understanding of underwriting principles and risk underwriting characteristics.
• Attend weekly underwriting meetings to understand business and market dynamics.
• Provide customer service and underwriting support to help achieve premium goals.
• Build relationships with producers under supervision of senior Underwriters.
• Fill in for other team members to ensure continuity during peak periods.
• Assist Underwriters as requested and perform related clerical duties.
• Conduct inspection review and process post-inspection changes when necessary.
