Job summary

DUAL North America is seeking an Associate Underwriter in the Windstorm Risk division, Chicago, IL. You will assist with account quoting, binding, and communications across the underwriting lifecycle.

Join a team focused on windstorm risk, data gathering, and customer service. You will support underwriters, learn market dynamics, and grow into underwriting authority while working in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business or related field preferred.
• 0–1 year underwriting or insurance experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to follow policies and learn quickly.
• Travel up to 10% with an Underwriter.

Responsibilities

• Process submissions by providing account triage for Underwriters.
• Provide backup support for Underwriters when traveling in the market.
• Gather and compile information required to quote and/or bind an account.
• Generate, edit, and send out correspondences on behalf of the Underwriters.
• Demonstrate basic understanding of underwriting principles and risk characteristics.
• Attend weekly underwriting meetings and learn why deals are lost.
• Provide customer service and underwriting support to help achieve premium goals.
• Build relationships with producers under supervision from senior Underwriters.
• Fill in for other team members to ensure continuity during peak periods.
• Complete other related clerical duties as assigned.
• Conduct inspection review and analysis for issue identification.
