Job summary

VetsEZ is seeking a Windows System Administrator to support Department of Veterans Affairs IT operations. You will perform hands-on Windows server administration, hardening, backups, and secure configuration within federal healthcare environments.

This role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Remote work options may be available, with collaboration across enterprise teams and audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server environments at scale.
• Hands-on with Active Directory, GPOs, Windows clustering, and SAN storage.
• Patching, hardening, and federal security compliance.
• Experience with Hyper-V and VMM.
• Familiarity with backup/monitoring tools (Commvault, SolarWinds, SCOM).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and maintain Windows Server systems across development, staging, and production.
• Administer and support enterprise services including AD, DNS, DHCP, SMB, RDP, and GPOs.
• Perform routine server maintenance, monitoring, and optimization for uptime and security.
• Configure and maintain server clusters, SAN volumes, and MPIO for high availability.
• Support hardware platforms (HP ProLiant DL Series) and firmware updates.
• Work with monitoring tools (SCOM, SolarWinds) to manage system health.
• Assist with NIC teaming, Mellanox NICs, and switch integrations.
• Implement STIGs for system hardening and remediation.
• Maintain secure remote access tools (sFTP, RDP) with encryption controls.
• Configure and manage backups with Commvault, including restores.
• Support deployment of enterprise software (VS, Power BI, SQL Server, etc.).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Hyper-V and physical systems.
• Collaborate with devs, DBs, and cybersecurity for compliance.
• Maintain documentation and topology diagrams for audits.
