Job summary

Amentum seeks a Systems Administrator 2 (Windows) on Kauai, HI to support U.S. Navy operations in a DoW environment. The role implements RMF and NIST controls across classified and unclassified networks, acting as escalation for complex issues.

Responsibilities include managing Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs, performing patch management with MECM, hardening with ACAS/ESS/SCAP, and automating tasks via PowerShell. Travel and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of specialized Windows system administration required.
• Knowledge of IT systems and advanced IT infrastructure concepts.
• Proficient in operating personal computers and standard office equipment.
• Basic keyboarding skills and attention to detail.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Automation/scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• VMware/Nutanix certification.
• Knowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE.
• Experience with MECM/SCCM.
• Experience with DoW systems and infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Cyber Security methods and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments across Navy networks.
• Manage AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs.
• Ensure compliance with STIGs and DoW cybersecurity policies; remediate as needed.
• Execute patch management using MECM; deploy updates.
• Hardening and vulnerability remediation with ACAS/ESS/SCAP.
• Develop and modify PowerShell scripts to automate tasks.
• Support virtualization platforms, primarily VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Assist in creating ATO/POAM documentation; support audits.
• Serve as escalation point for junior IT staff.
• Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs).
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and incident response.
• Occasional site visits and at-sea duty for MATSS.
