Amentum is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 (Windows) for a position on Kauai, HI.Provide intermediate-to-advanced level Microsoft infrastructure support for U.S. Navy operations within a Department of War (DoW) environment. This role involves comprehensive system administration, applying Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) controls, and serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues on both classified and unclassified networks.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments across classified and unclassified Navy networks.
- Manage and configure Active Directory, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Ensure system compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)s and DoW cybersecurity policies, executing remediation tasks as needed.
- Execute patch management processes and deploy updates across Microsoft systems utilizing automated tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager MECM).
- Perform system hardening and vulnerability remediation leveraging tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Endpoint Security Solution (ESS), and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).
- Utilize and modify PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
- Manage and support virtualization platforms, primarily VMware and Hyper‑V.
- Assist cybersecurity teams in generating and maintaining documentation for Authority to Operate (ATO) packages and Plan of Action and Milestones. (POAM).
- Serve as an escalation point for junior IT staff, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
- Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) to review and implement system changes.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and incident response efforts.
- General office environment with site visits as well as periodic "at sea" duty to support the PMRF's Mobile at Sea Sensor system (MATSS)
- Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.

- Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, sitting and work requiring repeated stooping or frequent climbing.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience
- Two (2) years of specialized Window system administration required.
- Knowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure concepts
- Must be proficient in operating personal computers, computer software and standard office equipment
- Must have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting
- Critical thinking - Proven problem solver
- Proficiency in automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- VMware/Nutanix certification
- Knowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE
- Experience with MECM/SCCM
- Experience with DoW systems and infrastructure
- Knowledge in Cyber Security Methods and Techniques
Education
- Associate's Degree
- High School Diploma with four (4) years of directly related Window system administration experience may be substituted for an A.S. degree.
Certifications (subject to change based on industry, DoW, or local policy requirements)
- DoW, or local policy requirements
- DOD 8570.1M IAT Level II required prior to start
- One of the following OS Certifications required prior to start:
- Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (Exam AZ-800 and AZ-801)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advance knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and RHEL is considered highly desired
Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Top Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
