Job summary

Amentum seeks a Sr. Systems Administrator (Linux) to oversee enterprise Linux infrastructure on Kauai, HI, supporting U.S. Navy operations in a DoD environment. Responsibilities include RMF/Audit readiness, patch management, automation scripting, and virtualization support across classified networks.

The role requires strong Linux expertise, DoD cybersecurity knowledge, and leadership to mentor junior staff while working within a DoW framework for secure, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Requires 2 years of System Administration/IT experience
• Automation skills with PowerShell, Bash, Python
• VMware/Nutanix certification or equivalent experience
• Experience with DoW/Navy networks and RMF/DI SA processes
• Knowledge of DoW IT systems incl. Windows and RHEL

Responsibilities

• Administer Red Hat Linux (RHEL) across classified/unclassified Navy networks
• Implement RMF security controls and DISA STIGs compliance
• Apply patches per DoW and Navy policies
• Manage system imaging and automation tools (SCCM, Ansible)
• Perform system hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation
• Develop PowerShell scripts for automation
• Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams for ATO/POA&M/audit readiness
• Maintain documentation and SOPs
• Mentor junior staff and participate in CCBs/CMBs
• Assist incident response and disaster recovery
• Support backups with Veeam/Commvault
• Evaluate DoW-approved Linux technologies
