Job summary

Speechify is seeking an experienced Windows desktop architect/developer in Bend, OR to lead design and delivery of native apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, with optional C++ expertise. You will drive performance, accessibility, and cross-version compatibility across the Windows platform.

You will collaborate with product designers, QA, and engineers to shape a long-term roadmap, own feature lifecycles end-to-end, and mentor peers while maintaining high-quality, scalable desktop

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML; native Windows experience (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM) is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record designing and shipping production-quality desktop apps with focus on reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building inclusive software.
• Solid fundamentals in OOP, patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK and WinUI, with C#, XAML and optional C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, and cross-version compatibility (Win10/Win11+).
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen readers, and inclusive UX.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering issues with robust solutions.
