Job summary

Beyond New Horizons (BNH) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join the NFAC wind tunnel operations team at Moffett Field, CA. You will evaluate, select, and apply mechanical engineering methods to support wind tunnel testing and facility maintenance, working under senior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Accredited B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • H07: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field
  • H08: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain AEDC security clearance
  • Current U.S. Citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical engineering work including calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment
  • Mechanical design of wind tunnel model components and interface hardware; develop drawing packages (SolidWorks/AutoCAD desirable); develop and review hand calculations for mechanical, structural, and stress analyses reports
  • Lead projects through lifecycle (planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and close out); coordinate NFAC technicians and outside contractors; asset management of facility systems and subsystems
  • Hands-on field work is expected; maintain facility mechanical (hydraulic/pneumatic power, compressors, pumps), electrical (motors), and control systems (PLC, instrumentation)
  • Communicate effectively with customers and test teams; wear PPE as required
