Job summary

EDP Renewables North America seeks an entry-level Wind Technician I for the Lone Star Wind Farm in Abilene, TX. You will perform on-site operations, maintenance, and repair of wind energy equipment, including safety trainings and reporting using standard procedures.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and a mechanical background, with 1–2 years in wind energy or related fields preferred. This full-time role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to work in varying conditions

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent technical training.
• Strong mechanical background with gearing knowledge.
• Experience in wind energy or related field preferred (1–2 years).
• Familiarity with turbine power converters and testing equipment is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft products; able to use diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wind turbines and site equipment including substation and switchgear.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement changes.
• Assess safety risks and enforce safety standards and programs.
• Coordinate with Remote Operations Center when needed.
• Complete training and on-the-job learning at the wind farm.
