Winchester Ammunition in Independence, MO is seeking an Accounting Intern to support the Finance and Accounting team with financial reporting, account reconciliations, data analysis, and month-end close activities. You will gain hands-on experience with accounting processes, financial controls, and business operations while developing technical and analytical skills.

Pay is $25.00/hour for undergraduates and $33.00/hour for graduate students; part-time (20 hours/week) availability is required

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university majoring in Finance, Accounting, or business‑related degree program (undergrad/grad).
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must have completed sophomore year (60 credits) prior to first rotation.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Olin ITAR vetting and US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly financial close process and complete assigned accounting tasks.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Support account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies and variances.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to collect, validate, and organize financial information.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analyses, reporting requests, and special projects.

Title: Accounting Intern (Multiple Semesters Required)

Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $25.00 / hour for undergraduate students; $33.00 / hour for graduate students

Focus: The Accounting Intern will support the Finance and Accounting team by assisting with financial reporting, account reconciliations, data analysis, and month-end close activities. This role provides hands‑on experience with accounting processes, financial controls, and business operations while developing technical and analytical skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with the monthly financial close process and completing assigned accounting tasks
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining supporting documentation
  • Support account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies and variances
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, validate, and organize financial information
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analyses, reporting requests, and special projects

What You'll Bring:

  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate or graduate Finance, Accounting, or business‑related degree program (or pending enrollment in a Master's program in one of these disciplines)
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Olin. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Ability to work continuously throughout the year, can be part‑time (20 hours per week) while taking classes. Not eligible for virtual work.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred
  • Must have completed sophomore year (or 60 completed credit hours) prior to first rotation with Olin
  • Must possess a valid US Driver's license
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
  • Independence Location Only: This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The U.S. Government does not allow non‑U.S. citizens onsite at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Independence, Missouri). Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
