Winchester Ammunition seeks a Quality Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Independence, MO. You will assist with audits, data analysis, and quality reporting while gaining hands-on experience in quality systems and manufacturing processes.

You must be enrolled in an undergrad engineering program (Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, or Metallurgical) with a 3.0 GPA, be a U.S. citizen, and able to work 40 hours per week on site. ITAR access and sponsorship restrictions apply.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in the specified engineering degree programs.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; official transcripts required each term.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms preferred.
  • Sophomore year completed (60 credits) before first rotation.
  • Willingness to work full-time (40 hours/week) on-site; no virtual work.
  • Access to ITAR data; US citizenship required; sponsorship not offered.

Focus:

The Quality Engineer Intern supports quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives by assisting with audits, data analysis, process evaluations, and quality reporting activities. This role provides hands‑on experience in quality management systems, manufacturing processes, root cause analysis, and cross‑functional problem solving while helping ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do:
  • Support quality assurance activities to help ensure products and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements
  • Assist with conducting process and product audits to identify potential quality concerns and opportunities for improvement
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data to support performance tracking and decision-making
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain, and business teams to resolve quality-related concerns
What You'll Bring:
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering degree program
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Olin. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred
  • Must have completed sophomore year (or 60 completed credit hours) prior to first rotation with Olin
  • Ability to work full‑time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) during rotation; Not eligible for virtual work
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
  • Independence Location Only: This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The U.S. Government does not allow non-U.S. citizens onsite at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Independence, Missouri). Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
