Job Responsibilities

This employee will coordinate and oversee a variety of projects, requiring environmental review for the agency involving impacts to waters of the United States and protected species, providing leadership, advice, and guidance on alterations of natural systems, mainly in inland or freshwater areas.

  • Coordinate and prepare detailed reviews of permits, environmental assessments, impact statements, and mitigation plans for impacts to waters of the U.S. and other natural resources, submitting to regulatory agencies promptly.
  • Represent the agency in the Interagency Review Team, facilitating stream and wetland mitigation banks or in-lieu fee programs.
  • Review mitigation documents such as Prospectuses, Mitigation Banking Instruments, and Monitoring Reports to streamline development processes.
  • Participate actively in site visits, providing comments and feedback.
  • Engage in ongoing education on wetland hydrology and stream geomorphology through workshops, webinars, and conferences.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local environmental programs, regulations, and policies, maintaining technical competency relevant to environmental review processes.
  • Conduct investigations and research to support scientific recommendations on projects under review.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A master's degree in biology, chemistry, or wildlife management with two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with four years of experience in related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in environmental evaluation programs, understanding of ecological principles, impact assessments, regulatory laws, and proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office, LIDAR, and ArcGIS. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential.
