ConservationCorpsNewMexico (CCNM) is seeking an AmeriCorps member for the 2027 Wildland Fire Mitigation & Chainsaw Assistant Crew Leader position based in Las Cruces, NM. The project focuses on forest management, fire mitigation, and prescribed burns in coordination with the Gila National Forest. The term runs 01/18/2027–05/07/2027, with a 450-hour AmeriCorps slot.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens/nationals or permanent residents, be at least 17, and have a high school diploma or equivalent,

Qualifications

• United States citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• At least 17 years of age
• Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; or agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award
• Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a safe and positive crew member experience by setting an example of enthusiasm and work ethic.
• Work with Crew Leader to communicate directions and project specifications.
• Provide leadership opportunities and cover duties when Crew Leader is unavailable.
• Participate in forest management, fire mitigation, and prescribed burn projects.
