WIC Qualified Nutritionist is responsible for providing WIC Registration Nutrition Assessment and counseling to staff of the WIC program at the assigned site(s). The role also entails providing nutrition education for individuals and groups and performing all job duties in compliance with system and job‑specific standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilizes a participant centered approach including opened questions, affirmations, eye contact, reflective listening and probing questions to complete assessment
• Completes all mandated and non‑mandated questions, assigning appropriate risks. Risks are reviewed with participant in a sensitive manner
• Reviews previously gathered information to follow up and determine if revisions are needed
• Provides positive input into the development of program policies and procedures. Actively demonstrates and promotes positive language and participant centered services throughout the workplace
• Documentation in NYWIC is clear and concise regarding special formulas and exceptional cases
• Promotes breastfeeding as the normal method of infant feeding and provides guidance to participants having breastfeeding problems
• Additional tasks are completed by deadline or in a timely manner upon assignment
• Utilizes tools and materials provided, such as common drive materials, scripts and dialogues
• Responsible for off sites and reports.

Minimum Education Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition required, Master’s in Nutrition preferred.

Required Specialized Skills & Knowledge

CPR/BLS required, Registered Dietitian preferred.
