Job summary

South Carolina Department of Public Health seeks a WIC nutritionist to provide the clinical components of WIC certification, health history and nutrition education in line with program standards. You will also counsel new mothers and provide breastfeeding support within scope of practice, including pump provisioning and documentation.

Responsibilities include developing group nutrition education, coordinating with the WIC team, and ensuring timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food science, dietetics, family and consumer sciences or other science related degree with emphasis on nutrition.
• An associate’s degree in science with relevant nutrition experience in a clinical or public health setting may substitute for the required bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide all clinical components of the WIC certification process and nutrition education per program standards.
• Deliver Level 1 and Level 2 breastfeeding counseling and support.
• Issue breast pumps to WIC participants according to policy.
• Develop and conduct group nutrition education for WIC participants.
• Monitor WIC contract and special formulas as assigned and submit required reports.
