Job summary

The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center seeks a Nutrition Counselor to work under the Lead Dietitian in a clinical WIC setting, performing assessments, counseling, referrals, breastfeeding support and nutrition education.

You will document care plans in the I-WIC system, develop education activities for clients and the community, and coordinate with Better Birth Outcomes and other services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
• One year clinical or community experience or approved dietetic internship required.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required at any clinic site.

Responsibilities

• Assess WIC eligibility using dietary, anthropometric, clinical data and health history.
• Provide nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support using Motivational Interviewing.
• Electronically document care plans in the I-WIC chart per state standards.
• Develop and deliver nutrition education/outreach presentations for clients and the community.
