Job summary

The Florida Department of Health is seeking an OPS Nutrition Educator to certify clients into the WIC program and provide nutrition counseling at Nassau County sites. Under supervision of a licensed nutritionist, you will review growth charts, complete FL-WiSE entries, and determine appropriate food packages while promoting breastfeeding.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nutrition and are willing to cover Nassau WIC sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (or master’s) degree from an accredited college/university in Nutrition Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition
• Willingness to provide coverage at all Nassau WIC sites
• Must be able to bend, squat, or stand for prolonged time, and lift items up to 35 pounds
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Certifying eligible clients into the WIC Program, providing nutrition counseling and health information under licensed supervision
• Evaluates clinical and anthropometric data and dietary histories of women, infants, and children in the WIC Program
• Reviews growth charts, completes medical nutrition questions in FL-WiSE, assigns risk codes and food packages
• Provides individual nutrition counseling and teaches group nutrition classes for pregnant, post-partum, and caregiver clients
• Promotes breastfeeding and discusses its benefits with prenatal clients
