Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health seeks a Nutrition Associate to deliver nutrition counseling, education, and WIC eligibility verification for participants in the WIC program serving over 40,000 monthly participants.

This role supports nutrition assessment and education and offers a pathway toward becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the WIC Track Dietetic Internship after six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition by the time of hire or Associate degree in Nutrition by the time of hire.
• Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Technician Registered (DTR) credential or DTR eligible and able to pass within twelve months of hire.
• Experience with WIC program and knowledge of nutrition assessment and counseling recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provides participant-centered nutrition and breastfeeding assessments, counseling, education, and support.
• Develops, documents, monitors, and evaluates individualized nutrition care plans based on evidence-based standards.
• Assesses eligibility and certifies participants for the WIC program, including income and residency determinations.
