Job summary

Randolph County Health Department seeks a nutrition professional to assess WIC participants, determine eligibility, and design individualized care plans. You will provide in-depth counseling and coordinate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other providers to support client health.

Responsibilities include planning nutrition education activities, preparing materials, and promoting nutrition awareness in the community. Ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

Job description

Performs nutrition assessment for public health clients, including determination of WIC program eligibility. Designs individualized care plans and WIC approved food prescription packages. Provides in-depth individualized nutrition counseling. Documents plans of care in the Crossroads system and utilizes multidisciplinary approach to providing coordinated patient care.

Consults with and provides nutritional interpretation to physicians, nurses, social workers and other health care providers, including agencies and medical offices outside of public health.

Participates in the planning and instruction of nutrition education activities including but not limited to classes, community programs, health fairs, and/or menu reviews. Assists in the development of lesson plans and in the preparation and selection of appropriate nutrition education materials. Participates in the promotion of nutrition awareness activities in the community and serves as source of nutrition education and information for the community. Participates in local agency staff meetings. Attends WIC program training sessions. Expands professional knowledge through conferences, workshops and professional publications. Performs various other duties as requested by the Nutrition Program Director.

Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetics Registration; or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Nutrition; or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education- approved Didactic Program in Dietetics and two years nutrition experience; or Dietetic Technician, Registered with the Commission on Dietetics Registration with a Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year college or university and two years nutrition experience; or a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year college or university and two years nutrition experience.
