Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Lee County is seeking a Health Support Specialist to support the WIC program and assist participants with demographics interviews, nutrition education, and administrative duties in North Fort Myers.

You will collect medical data, document in the FL-WiSE system, manage immunization records, and assist with breastfeeding referrals. The role requires adherence to DOH policies and strong customer service in a public health setting.

Qualifications

• Demographics interviewing experience or familiarity with WIC data collection.
• Knowledge of WIC program procedures and immunization documentation.
• Strong record-keeping and accuracy in data entry and forms.
• Ability to maintain security, inventory, and supply logs.

Responsibilities

• Operates FL-WiSE terminals and processes benefits, EBT cards, and appointments.
• Collects and records medical data (height, weight, hemoglobin) for WIC clients.
• Transcribes data to FL-WiSE system and updates immunization records.
• Answers calls and provides information on WIC program, classes, and events.
• Supports breastfeeding initiatives and refers clients for further information.
• Participates in nutrition education activities and other duties as assigned.
