Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Lake County seeks a HEALTH SUPPORT SPECIALIST to perform clerical and health support duties for the WIC program. Responsibilities include taking measurements, conducting hematological tests, and entering data into FL-WiSE, while adhering to policy guidelines.

The role requires basic computer and data entry skills, with opportunities to train on WIC software and participate in nutrition education for clients.

Qualifications

• Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in emergencies.
• Willing to travel to different WIC sites in Lake County
• Work experience or training performing hematological testing
• Work experience or training performing anthropometric measurements
• Bilingual Spanish language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take weight and height measurements of WIC clients and perform hematological tests necessary for WIC certification.
• Enter hematological data into FL-WiSE and maintain calibration records for hematology equipment.
• Monitor the WIC appointment line and respond to calls, especially during lunch hours and after clinic hours.
• Instruct WIC clients interactively in basic nutrition principles from the WIC Education Kit.
• Assist nutrition staff with questionnaires and data entry into the FL-WiSE system.
• Organize and maintain inventories of WIC cards, forms, supplies and related materials.
