Job summary

Florida Department of Health in Okeechobee County is seeking a Health Support Specialist to support WIC services, immunization surveillance, voter registration, and breastfeeding peer counselor programs. You will collect measurements, perform finger sticks, and ensure HIPAA-compliant care with strong customer service.

Responsibilities include WIC certification tasks, EBT card issuance support, and documenting data in state systems while coordinating with the WIC Director and Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida driver’s license or reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform finger stick for Hemoglobin testing (training provided).
• Emergency duty may be required outside normal hours.
• Current Department of Health employee.
• WIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility and enroll clients in the WIC program.
• Carry out immunization surveillance and voter registration activities.
• Obtain anthropometric measurements and perform hemoglobin testing.
• Support breastfeeding Peer Counselor activities and reports.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and provide customer service.
