Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Lakeland is seeking a HEALTH SUPPORT SPECIALIST to assist the WIC program participants in Polk County. Under supervision, you will perform basic health checks, document results in the FL WiSE system, and support immunization screening and client eligibility processes.

You will calibrate equipment, train staff on data collection, manage supplies, and provide nutrition education while ensuring compliance with state policies and confidentiality rules.

Qualifications

• Ability to use a computer, printer, scanner, and calculator.
• Ability to use WIC program related software and pass competency tests.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform lab duties and anthropometrics.
• Ability to train others and ensure quality.

Responsibilities

• Performs height, length, weight and hemoglobin measurements.
• Documents data in FL WiSE system.
• Screens immunization records and documents status.
• Calibrates equipment and maintains cleanliness.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies at base site.
• Issues WIC benefits and maintains electronic files.
• Provides nutrition education to clients.
• Completes administrative forms and reports.
